On Saturday August 18, 2018, the Baltimore Regional Guardian Angels celebrated their 12th Year Anniversary of the Re-start of the Baltimore Chapter under the leadership of Marcus “Strider” Dent. Strider along with his twin brother, Taps, are veteran angels whose service with the Guardian Angels date back to the 1980s. In 2006 Strider and Taps restarted the Baltimore Chapter and in the 12 years since, a variety of Programs and Initiatives have stemmed from their work as Guardian Angels and Community Leaders.

The celebration was co-hosted by Karen Campbell of WBAL-TV 11 Baltimore, and Guest Speakers included Gaetane Borders of Peas in Their Pods, Baltimore City Councilman Ed Reisinger, Former Baltimore City Police Commissioner and Radio Personality Ed Norris, Co-Host of Beyond the Streets Maynard Edwards, Baltimore Ceasefire Organizer Letrice Gant, and Guardian Angel Founder Curtis Sliwa. The Event was attended by many of the Baltimore Chapter’s Community Partners and friends.

The members of the Baltimore Chapter received Citations from the Baltimore City Council for their efforts through the years and their embodiment of the Guardian Angel Mission to “Make A Difference” to those we serve.

The event ended with a viewing of “Vigilante: The Incredible True Story of Curtis Sliwa and the Guardian Angels” which documents the journey of the Guardian Angels from its inception in 1979 through the shooting of Guardian Angel founder, Curtis Sliwa by the Gotti Family in 1992.
